The Faith of a Child

Today at church, Grayson learned that God listens...he heard about the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel, when she prayed for a child and God heard her. His teacher told him that God is in heaven, but he is also all around us, and is listening to every word we pray. So, tonight, we were talking about that.

Grayson said, "God's at church."

And I said, "Yes, God is at church, but he is also here at home."

Grayson looked around and said, "I no see him."

I said, "We can't see him, but we know he's here."

After looking around several more times and assuring me that he didn't see God so he must not be here, and me assuring him that he was here even though we couldn't see him, Grayson said, "It's too hard."

I said, "Yes, baby, it is hard."

Seeing as we, as adults, still struggle with this, it's understandable to see how a 2year old might have trouble. But it brings such joy to our hearts to watch him try.

Lord, give this precious little boy a heart to know and love you despite all the unexplainable questions!

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them. Our Little Gorilla

One neighbor passed out juice boxes, and Grayson had to drink his then and there

When your bedtime is 8:00, you better get started before it gets dark

This was when Grayson sternly held up his finger and said "No More" (pics Mom)

What a difference a year makes! Last year, we couldn't get him in his costume and this year, we couldn't get him out. At the risk of sounding totally sac-religious, I have a growing love of Halloween since becoming a Mom (obviously not for it's meaning). There is just nothing cuter than seeing kiddos (and no I don't mean high schoolers who need to put on a little more clothes) all dressed up and so excited about going to knock on doors to get "CANDY!" So excited in fact that after saying "Tricky, Tricky" (we couldn't get trick or treat out of him) and taking a piece of candy, our little gorilla barely makes it off the porch before he tries to sit down in each of our neighbor's yards to eat his candy before going to the next house :)

Honduras

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itE-k7hChWM
Brad got to go to Honduras last week on a mission trip with three other guys from our church. God did amazing things in and through the team. I won't even begin to try to recount the stories second hand, and hopefully Brad will write his own post eventually about the trip, but above is a link to a video from the trip!

And they had a little fun too! :)

2010 Family Photos

Just a few of my faves (I kind of have trouble narrowing down my favorites). If you're looking for a VERY reasonably priced photographer and live in the Houston area, our friend Karina is the best!

An Excuse Not to Cook

Brad says I'm getting creative with my excuses not to cook (as if E.Coli, sinus & bladder infections weren't enough), but I promise I'm not desperate enough to chisel away the glass in our oven, even though Brad swears he saw me hide the hammer right before he got home :) Really though, I was baking chicken on a baking sheet when I heard a loud pop. I racked my brain trying to figure out what "rule" I broke to cause this, but I got nothing. Thanks goodness for home warranties (praying it's covered)!

Yay Amy!!!

Not many people are special enough to have a blog post dedicated to them, but Amy is! AMY IS ENGAGED!!! Yay! Evan, thanks so much for letting us be part of the special night. It was a wonderful celebration and a great excuse to see some of our favorite peeps!

"I'll Make Money"

The other morning Grayson was wanting Brad to play with him, but Brad was trying to work.

Brad: "Buddy, I can't play right now, Daddy has to work."

Gray: "No work."

Brad: "Grayson, do you like living in this house?"

Gray: "Uh-huh."

Brad: "Do you like your room and your toys?"

Gray: "Uh-huh."

Brad: "Do you like to eat and wear clothes?"

Gray: "Yeah!"

Brad: "Then Daddy has to work and make money."

Gray: "I'll make money!"

Then he ran off to get his piggy bank and give it to Brad :)
